FAQ

  • What’s the difference between henna and jagua?

Henna is a natural plant-based dye that stains the skin reddish-brown. Jagua is made from the juice of the Genipa americana fruit and stains the skin blue-black. Both are temporary body art, but they look and fade differently.

  • Why is my henna light?

This can happen due to short paste contact time, too much water exposure early on, cold skin, or poor aftercare. Visit my Henna Prep & Aftercare section.

  • Why is my Jagua not have a stain?

Jagua stains develop over 24–48 hours, before turning blue-black. Refer to the Jagua aftercare guidance within the Help section.

  • Are they safe for all skin types?

Both are safe for most people when made from 100% natural ingredients. Always avoid “black henna” or products with PPD or artificial dyes. If you have sensitive skin, eczema, or allergies, a patch test is recommended.

  • How long do the stains last?

Henna stains last around 7–14 days. Jagua stains last about 10–14 days. The exact time depends on skin type, placement, and aftercare. Visit my Help section for in depth guidance.

  • Can I get henna or jagua if I’m pregnant?

Natural henna is generally considered safe in pregnancy if lavender essential oil is used, but jagua is not recommended due to limited safety research. Always consult your healthcare provider first.
